PM announces Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia for kin of Himachal Pradesh factory blast victims

New Delhi: At least seven people were killed in an explosion that took place at a firecracker factory in Himachal Pradesh’s Una Tuesday. Twelve others are believed to have suffered burn injuries in the incident that took place at the Bathri Industrial area.

An ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh has been announced to the kin of the deceased by the Prime Minister’s Office.

“Rs 2 lakh each from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund will be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the tragic factory mishap in Himachal Pradesh. Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured,” stated the PMO.

Arjit Sen Thakur, superintendent of police, Una, was quoted by ANI as saying, “The police reached the spot as soon as the incident took place. The cause of the fire will be investigated. According to the information received, six persons have died and around 12 are injured. They have been sent to the regional hospital in Una for treatment.”

Meanwhile, Una Deputy Commissioner Raghav Sharma told PTI that prima facie many of those dead and injured were migrant labourers.
