New Delhi, Mar 15 (PTI) People from across the national capital paid tributes to former Delhi chief minister late Sahib Singh Verma on his 83rd birth anniversary on Sunday.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, in a post on X, offered her tributes to Verma, saying his contribution towards the holistic development of the city, especially rural areas, and modern infrastructure, is unforgettable.

She said Verma’s commitment to ideology and simple life will always inspire everyone in the BJP.

Hundreds of people from villages and neighbourhoods across Delhi gathered at Swabhiman Sthal, Ghevra Mor, on Sunday to pay tributes to Verma.

His son and PWD minister of the BJP government in Delhi, Parvesh Sahib Singh, along with family members, also participated in a “Havan” and offered prayers on the occasion.

The overwhelming presence of people showed how deeply his father remained connected with the people of Delhi, the minister said.

He added, “Sahib Singh Verma ji always believed that politics is meaningful only when it improves the lives of ordinary citizens.” Recalling his father’s tenure as chief minister, the BJP leader said he worked tirelessly for the development of Delhi’s villages, rural belts and unauthorised colonies, and had envisioned large-scale infrastructure and social development in these areas.
