New Delhi, Mar 12 (PTI) A BJP member on Thursday claimed in the Lok Sabha that Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi held a picnic near Parliament House by having tea and coffee, violating the directives of the speaker.
Nishikant Dubey made these remarks after Gandhi raised in the House concerns over the reported LPG shortage.
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri responded by saying there was no shortage of diesel, petrol, cooking gas and kerosene despite the ongoing crisis in West Asia.
After Puri’s statement was made amid opposition protests, Dubey claimed that if Gandhi wanted to speak on the LPG shortage, he was welcome to do so.
“Parliament is not a picnic spot. Speaker, Sir, you have issued directions against holding protests at the ‘Makar Dwar’ entrance of the Parliament building.
“You have ordered that no one will have tea or coffee (there at the entrance gate)… they are having a picnic with his friends…,” he told the chair.
