New Delhi, Mar 18 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday announced ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to families of adult deceased persons and Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of those who were minor and died in the Palam fire incident.

“Delhi government stands firmly with the affected families and will ensure all possible support. Financial assistance is being provided,” Gupta said in a post on X.

She announced “Rs 10 lakh each to the families of deceased adults, Rs 5 lakh each to the families of deceased minors and Rs 2 lakh each to the seriously injured”.

“We are committed to ensuring relief, support and all necessary assistance in this difficult time,” she added.

Nine members of a family, including a 70-year-old woman and three of her granddaughters, were killed after a massive fire tore through a multi-storey residential building in southwest Delhi’s Palam area on Wednesday morning, officials said.

Three others were injured, two of them jumped from the building at Ram Chowk Market near Palam Metro Station in a desperate attempt to escape the flames, they said. PTI SSM VIT KVK KVK
