Bengaluru, Mar 29 (PTI) Nearly 60 people took ill after consuming Ram Navami ‘prasad’ (consecrated offering) in Bengaluru Rural district, officials said on Sunday.

According to officials, about 400 people had consumed the Prasad on Saturday and many of them started complaining of stomach pain, vomiting sensation and diarrhoea like symptoms.

They were rushed to the hospital in the small hours of Sunday.

“Sixty people developed illness in the wee hours of Sunday. After treatment, all of them are out of danger,” Bengaluru Rural District Health Officer (DHO) Lakka Krishna Reddy, told reporters in Devanahalli.

About 46 people were admitted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Devanahalli, while the remaining were shifted to a private hospital.
