Shravasti (UP), Mar 17 (PTI) A Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) has been suspended and departmental action has been recommended against him for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 for the appointment of an Anganwadi assistant in Shravasti district of Uttar Pradesh, an official said.

Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Shravasti, Shahid Ahmed, in a statement issued on Monday said that a complaint was lodged against CDPO of Sirsiya area, Mukesh Kumar, of demanding a bribe in the appointment of an assistant has been found to be prima facie true and he has been suspended.

Ahmed said that a letter has also been written to the Director of the Uttar Pradesh Child Development and Nutrition Department, recommending departmental action against him.

The CDO told reporters that Priyanka Arya had complained to the District Magistrate that the Sirsiya area CDPO had demanded Rs 20,000 for the appointment of an Anganwadi assistant. In this regard, an audio clip of the conversation between the two on mobile was also presented.

The CDO said that the complaint was serious, so a joint team of SDM Praveen Kumar Yadav and SDM Ravendra Kumar conducted a thorough investigation into the matter, which confirmed the complaint.

“Mukesh Kumar confirmed that the voice in the audio clip of the mobile conversation was his. Following this, action was taken,” the CDO said. PTI COR NAV RT RT
