New Delhi, Mar 26 (PTI) The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday clarified that there was no blast near Jafrabad Metro station, dismissing viral social media messages claiming an explosion on the line.
In a statement, the DMRC said the incident was caused by a “pantograph flashing” in a train, which occurred after a kite thread got stuck between the overhead equipment (OHE) and the pantograph.
This led to a brief flashing and unusual sound but did not pose any safety risk to passengers or disrupt metro services, it said.
The corporation added that train operations continued normally and there was no damage or hazard reported due to the incident.
Advising caution, the DMRC urged the public to avoid flying kites near high-voltage metro lines, stating that such activities can interfere with operations and may also prove dangerous. PTI SHB HIG HIG
