New Delhi, Mar 24 (PTI) The National Green Tribunal has directed the MCD and Irrigation and Flood Control Department of Delhi government to take appropriate remedial action regarding the regular cleaning and maintenance of Palam drain in Dwarka here.
The green body was hearing a plea alleging discharge of untreated sewage and industrial waste from nearby areas into Palam drain running adjacent to a residential pocket in Dwarka Sector-3.
The plea claimed that the authorities did not clean and desilt the drain regularly.
In an order dated March 23, a bench of expert members, A Senthil Vel and Afroz Ahmad, said that the drain required regular monitoring, cleaning and maintenance by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department (IFCD).
“Hence, we dispose of this original application directing the MCD and IFCD to look into the grievance of the applicant and take appropriate remedial action expeditiously,” the tribunal said. PTI MNR MNR KVK KVK
