Una, Mar 14 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Saturday said there is a need to connect students with religious and cultural values alongside their education, so that they can become acquainted with the culture, traditions and heritage of the state.

He said this while addressing the people during the fifth annual prize distribution ceremony held at Professor Simmi Agnihotri Government Degree College, Haroli, in the Una district.

Speaking on the occasion, Agnihotri urged students to set specific goals in their lives and to work hard continuously, maintaining a sharp focus on those objectives.

He also appealed to the teachers to organise periodic educational excursions for the students to temples and other historical and cultural sites, thereby providing them with an opportunity to understand their cultural roots.

Agnihotri also said that the state government is fully committed to the holistic development of the region.

“Continuous efforts are being made to transform the Haroli Legislative Assembly constituency into a developed, educated and prosperous region. At present, work is in progress on various drinking water schemes worth approx Rs 1,000 crore,” he said. PTI/COR MNK MNK
