Silchar (Assam), Mar 29 (PTI) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday said that the BJP-led NDA was expanding its footprint across the country, with the people voting for its transparent and efficient governance.

He asserted that the party will not only retain power in Assam in next month’s elections, but will also form the next governments in other poll-bound states like West Bengal and Kerala.

Addressing a campaign meeting here, Saha said, “Earlier, blasts were frequent in Guwahati. The situation was similar in several other states, but it has now changed as militancy has been eradicated from around 70 per cent of the Northeast.” Saha said the situation has changed for the better in the Northeast because of the importance Prime Minister Narendra Modi places on the development of the region.

Urging people to vote for BJP’s Silchar candidate Rajdeep Roy, the Tripura CM said, “Roy was earlier the local MP. Now, he is seeking to represent you in the assembly. It is for you to ensure he wins by a massive margin.” Saha said he was recently in Bardhaman in West Bengal to campaign for the party.

“In West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress had ousted the CPI(M) from power, but it has now become a carbon copy of the Left party. There is no law and order in the state. But the regime is in trouble… People will not allow it to become a ‘Bangladesh’,” he said.

He exuded confidence that the BJP will form the government in Kerala as well.

Saha maintained that people have been accepting the BJP-led NDA because of Modi’s governance model.

He said the country’s financial health and security have been strengthened under the current central government, and transparency in governance has further boosted people’s confidence.

Attacking the Congress, he said, “It is an undisciplined party with an anti-national stance. The security deposit of its candidates will be forfeited in this election.” PTI SSG SSG ACD
