Thane, Mar 16 (PTI) A total of 44,021 cases related to permanent power supply disconnections and electricity theft in Kalyan Circle of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited were resolved at the National Lok Adalat held in Thane, an official said on Monday.
Consumers took advantage of concessions offered by MSEDCL and paid Rs 20.79 crore to settle the disputes, the state run utility’s deputy chief public relations officer Ajit Igatpurikar said.
“To facilitate amicable resolution, 2,38,745 notices were issued to electricity consumers across Kalyan Circle regarding permanent disconnection and electricity theft cases. Of these, 44,021 consumers participated in the Lok Adalat process, following which settlements were reached. It resulted in recovery of Rs 20.79 crore,” Igatpurikar added.
It included recovery of Rs 16.44 crore in Kalyan Division 2 in 27,836 cases as well as Rs 4.26 crore from 15,976 cases in Vasai, he said.
The Lok Adalat was conducted on Saturday in coordination with Thane and Palghar District Legal Services Authorities under the guidance of Kalyan Circle MSEDCL chief engineer Chandramani Mishra, the official added. PTI COR BNM
