Jaipur, Apr 12 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday termed the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ a “historic and visionary decision”, asserting it would significantly enhance women’s participation in policymaking.

Addressing a programme at the chief minister’s residence on Sunday evening, Sharma said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘historic’ Nari Shakti Vandan Act has been passed to increase women’s representation in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.

“This will reserve one-third of seats for women and strengthen their leadership. With the implementation of this Act, women’s participation in policymaking will increase, ensuring their role in the journey towards a developed India by 2047,” he said, while urging women to spread awareness about the legislation.

Highlighting welfare initiatives, Sharma said that after 2014, several schemes focused on women’s dignity, safety, and empowerment have been launched, benefiting a large number of women across the country.

He listed schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Swachh Bharat Mission as key initiatives contributing to women’s empowerment.

The chief minister also highlighted state-level initiatives.

“Through schemes like Lado Protsahan Yojana and Mukhyamantri Nari Shakti Udyam Protsahan Yojana, we are continuously working to empower women economically,” he said.

He said that over 16 lakh women have become “lakhpati didis” in the state, while schemes like the Maa Voucher Yojana are providing free sonography for pregnant women. PTI SDA MPL MPL
