New Delhi: The Ram Navami communal clashes on 10 April in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone claimed its first victim Sunday night when a missing man was identified by his family.

The 30-year-old Ibarish Khan’s body was picked out by his family at Indore’s MY Hospital last night. The hospital is 120 kilometres from Khargone.

Reports quoted the local police as saying that Khan was murdered on the night of the clashes. His body was found the next day on 11 April, the police said, but remained unidentified. He died of severe head injuries.

Authorities said the body was taken to the Indore hospital as there was no freezer storage available in Khargone.

A Khargone municipality employee, Khan leaves behind a wife and young son.
