Gurugram, Apr 1 (PTI) The body of a monkey was found inside a water tank of a residential building at Shaheed Hasan Khan Medical College in Nuh, with the residents alleging negligence in maintenance, a staff member said on Wednesday.

College Director Dr Mukesh Kumar has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

The incident came to light on Tuesday after complaints of a bad odour, following which water tanks in the EWS-1, 2 and 3 residential blocks were inspected.

A decomposed monkey was found in one of the tanks, and it is suspected to have died four to five days ago, he added.

Residents alleged that the tanks were not cleaned regularly and that they had been using the contaminated water for daily activities.

A resident said, “The campus is plagued by monkeys, which break tank lids, allowing dirt and animal waste to enter the water. The administration has ignored the issue.” Kumar said iron lids and nets would be installed to prevent such incidents. “Luckily, no staff member or family has been affected by using this water,” he added.
