Aizawl, Mar 12 (PTI) Mizoram has achieved a significant milestone in rural infrastructure with 100 per cent tap water coverage for village households under the Centre’s Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, a minister told the assembly on Thursday.
In a written reply to a query from MNF legislator and Leader of the Opposition Lalchhandama Ralte, Public Health Engineering Minister Lalnilawma said a total of 1,33,060 households have been provided with functional tap water connections.
This transition marks a shift from traditional water sourcing to a standardised and piped supply system across the state’s rural landscape.
Lalnilawma also said that the state currently operates 28 water quality testing laboratories to ensure the safety of the supply.
To meet national standards, four of these facilities have received official recognition from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), he said.
These laboratories are located in Aizawl, Lunglei, Champhai and Kolasib, he said. PTI CORR BDC
