Amaravati, Apr 1 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday hailed Lok Sabha’s passage of the Bill recognising Amaravati as the state’s sole capital as a “historic moment” for the people of the state.
The Minister said the decision reflects the fulfilled aspirations of the state’s people following years of struggle and uncertainty.
Taking to X, he said, “This is the aspiration of five crore people of Andhra Pradesh that the bill is approved’¦ the victory of Amaravati’¦ the victory of the people’¦ the result of struggle.” He noted that the state assembly had unanimously backed Amaravati under the ‘One State, One Capital’ policy, and the Bill’s passage in the Lok Sabha marks pride for crores of people across the state.
Lokesh expressed gratitude to the Centre and supporting parties, saying the decision respects people’s wishes and upholds Amaravati’s cultural and historical significance as the capital.
According to him, the approval would bring clarity in governance, strengthen investor confidence and accelerate growth while ensuring balanced regional development through decentralised administrative mechanisms statewide.
Meanwhile, BJP state president PVN Madhav welcomed the passage of the Bill in Lok Sabha, calling it a permanent solution to the capital issues arising since bifurcation in 2014 and boosting economic prospects.
