Indore, Apr 1 (PTI) The retail prices of milk in many parts of Madhya Pradesh increased by Rs 2 to Rs 4 per litre from Wednesday, the first day of the new financial year, due to the rising cost of animal feed during summer, a top official of a milk vendors’ organisation said.
Talking to PTI, Bharat Mathurawala, president of the Madhya Pradesh Milk Vendors Federation, said the retail price of loose milk has been increased in Indore, Ujjain, Dhar, Dewas, Bhopal, Jabalpur and other places.
The price rise is in the range of Rs 2 to Rs 4 per litre, he said.
“Loose milk, which used to be sold for Rs 60 per litre in Indore, is now being sold for Rs 63 per litre,” Mathurawala said.
Milk prices in other cities have been increased as per the local conditions, he added.
“We had to increase milk prices due to the shortage of green fodder during the summer season and the increase in animal feed prices. The milk production capacity of cattle decreases during summer anyway,” the federation president said. PTI HWP MAS NP
