Ahmedabad, Mar 27 (PTI) Gujarat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani on Friday put out a social media message detailing torture allegations made by a journalist against a top Rajkot police officer, who, however, rubbished them as “drama” to stop probe into an extortion application.

In his post on X, Mevani said journalist Suresh Vadaicha had told him that DCP Jagdish Bangarwa of Rajkot Crime Branch broke his leg and poured petrol in his rectum.

“DCP of Rajkot poured petrol in my anus – this is the complaint of journalist Suresh Vadaicha of Rajkot city of Gujarat! Yesterday he told me that “Without any FIR, DCP Jagdish Bangarwa of Rajkot Crime Branch broke my leg and filled my anus with petrol twice,” Mevani’s post read.

Mevani also posted a video showing Vadaicha lying on a hospital bed. Vadaicha claimed police was upset with him as a viral video expose’ by him forced them to stop extortion.

When contacted, DCP Bangarwa said the man was levelling accusations to ensure there is no probe into an application accusing him of extortion.

“This is his personal problem. An application against this man is pending before the police. He is doing all this drama so that there is no police investigation against him. A criminal application is pending showing him as an accused,” the DCP said.

The DCP also said MLA Mevani was raising this because he has a “personal issue” against him. PTI KA PD BNM
