Shillong, Apr 13 (PTI) Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday urged youth to actively engage in policy discussions and innovation-driven development.

Addressing participants from the North Eastern region virtually at the concluding session of MY Bharat Budget Quest 2026 here, Mandaviya emphasised the pivotal role of youth in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

“Young people are the driving force of nation-building. Your ideas, innovation and active participation in policy discourse will shape the future of India,” the Union Sports and Youth Affairs minister said, urging them to contribute solutions aligned with the priorities of the Union Budget.

The two-day programme, held at the U Soso Tham Auditorium on April 12 and 13, was part of a nationwide initiative conducted across 17 locations, including all eight North Eastern states.

The minister also announced that the upcoming Viksit Bharat Young Leader Dialogue will feature a new ‘State Edition’ format, including state-level competitions to identify top talent.

“Selected participants will get an opportunity to interact with chief ministers and governors, and 3,000 youth from across the country will be invited to New Delhi to present their ideas to the Prime Minister on National Youth Day,” he said.

Meghalaya Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla, who also attended the event, highlighted the state government’s commitment to youth development and encouraged participants to make the most of such platforms.

A message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, read out during the programme, noted that dialogues help unlock ideas and harness the creativity of youth to build a stronger nation.

The event saw participation of over 15,000 youth nationwide, engaging in discussions aligned with the Union Budget 2026, officials said. PTI JOP RG
