New Delhi, Mar 25 (PTI) A 24-year-old man wanted in a case of armed dacoity in Bihar was arrested from south Delhi, police said on Saturday.

The accused has been identified as Krishna Yadav, a resident of Gopalganj district in Bihar, they said.

On Friday, the Bihar Police informed the Special Cell of its Delhi counterpart about Yadav, following which a trap was laid near Ghitorni Village at MG Road. He was surrounded by the police team and was asked to surrender. Yadav took out a pistol and tried to fire, but was overpowered, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Alok Kumar said.

One pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from him.

Yadav was involved in half a dozen criminal cases in Bihar. He was currently wanted and absconding in a case of shootout-cum-armed dacoity of gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh from a jewellery shop in Gopalganj on February 4, police said.

Yadav and his six associates arrived at the jewellery shop on three bikes for committing robbery. However, on facing resistance by the store staff, they opened fire at them. They also assaulted the staff before fleeing, police said.

The shop owner and his son suffered multiple injuries in the firing, they said. PTI NIT CK
