Man tries to immolate self outside Maharashtra Assembly

Mumbai, Mar 24 (PTI) A man tried to immolate himself near the Maharashtra Assembly here on Tuesday afternoon over a dispute related to road access to his agricultural land in Latur district, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place at Usha Mehta Chowk, an official said.

Jyotiram Sahebrao Chavan, a resident of Renapur, poured a non-inflammable liquid on himself in a desperate bid to draw attention to his grievance, he said.

He was taken to the Marine Drive police station, where he was booked for a non-cognisable offence, the official said. PTI DC DIV DIV
