New Delhi, Mar 30 (PTI) A man allegedly jumped into the Yamuna River near Geeta Colony in east Delhi on Monday evening, prompting a rescue operation by emergency teams, an official said.

According to the Delhi Fire Services, a call was received around 4.25 pm, following which two rescue vehicles were rushed to the spot.

“A rescue operation was launched in the evening but had to be suspended shortly due to poor visibility after nightfall,” a DFS official said, adding that the operation would resume on Tuesday.

Officials said the man is suspected to have jumped voluntarily from a bridge over the river near Gandhi Nagar.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the identity of the man and the circumstances leading to the incident. PTI MSJ BM RHL
