Thane, Mar 29 (PTI) A man has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing two 10-year-old girls in Maharashtra’s Thane district, police said on Sunday.

Irfan Mashak Sheikh (23), a resident of Bhiwandi, was apprehended in the wee hours of Saturday in connection with the incident that took place in the Navi Wasti area on Friday.

“The accused allegedly cornered two minor girls, touched them inappropriately and harassed them,” an official from the Bhiwandi City police station said.

Based on the complaint lodged by the mother of one of the girls, the police registered a case under section 74 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said.
