Nanded, Apr 1 (PTI) Police have arrested a man in Maharashtra’s Nanded district for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl on several occasions by threatening to circulate her private photos on social media, an official said.
The accused, identified as Avinash Rajesh Manpure (25) leaked the 17-year-old victim’s private videos online.
Following his arrest, a local court remanded him in judicial custody on Wednesday.
“The accused established contact with the victim on Instagram. By gradually gaining her trust, he managed to get her private photos and videos. Thereafter, he sexually assaulted her repeatedly by threatening to circulate her photos,” police inspector Ajit Kumbhar told PTI.
When the victim tried to keep away from him, the accused leaked her photos and videos from an Instagram account last week, he said.
The victim’s family then approached the Bhokar police and lodged a complaint, based on which an FIR was registered against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested him on March 30, the official said. PTI COR NP
