Man held for ‘sexually assaulting’ speech impaired, disabled woman in Telangana

Hyderabad, Mar 30 (PTI) A 35-year-old man was on Monday arrested here for allegedly sexually assaulting a speech impaired and physically disabled woman, police said.

The incident took place in Attapur on March 28 when the victim was alone at home. The accused entered the woman’s house and sexually assaulted her by gagging her mouth, a release from Hyderabad Police said.

The victim is a relative of the accused, it said.

A relative of the 28-year-old victim, who returned home found her in a distressed condition without clothes and also noticed the accused, who admitted his mistake, and apologised for his act, it said.

The accused then managed to escape and fled the scene.

On further enquiry, the victim, through signs and gestures, indicated that the accused had entered the house after complainant (woman relative) left and committed sexual assault on her, police said.

The victim has been staying with complainant for the past about nine years.

A case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered and the accused was arrested, they said.

The accused, working as a labourer, is a habitual drinker and frequently roams in different areas exhibiting unruly and vexatious behavior. Due to his conduct, his wife, left him and shifted to her parental house along with their three children, the release added. PTI VVK VVK ROH
