Beed, Mar 11 (PTI) A 21-year-old man allegedly died by suicide in Maharashtra’s Beed district after being scolded by his parents for neglecting household responsibilities, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday at Sangvi (Patan) in Ashti tehsil.

Police said the man, Viraj Haridas Bhagat, was apparently scolded by his parents for not helping with household work. He then went to their family’s agricultural field and hanged himself from a mango tree, they said.

The incident came to light when his sister, who had gone to the field, noticed him hanging from the tree.

The body has been sent to the Primary Health Centre at Dhamangaon for post-mortem, and an investigation is underway, said an official. PTI COR NR
