Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jul 17 (PTI) Power supply to the Siddheshwar dam in central Maharashtra’s Hingoli district has been disconnected for the last 15 days due to pending bills of Rs 1.47 crore, an MSEDCL official told PTI on Thursday.
The dam across the Purna river irrigates Aundha Nagnath and Vasmat tehsils of Hingoli, and some parts of Nanded.
The project has no electricity supply as of now, the official said.
“Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) has given two connections to the dam. But the bills for power consumption by the irrigation department and local civic body are unpaid. Arrears of Rs 1.47 crore have accumulated over two years,” he said.
The bills remained unpaid despite multiple notices, so the power supply was cut 15 days ago, the official said.
The dam has received 10.75 Million Cubic Metres of water since June 1 and currently has 19.82 MCM water, 24.48 per cent of its capacity, an official said. PTI AW KRK
