Mumbai, Feb 9 (PTI) The Maharashtra government has decided to extend the ‘Aapla Davakhana’ (My Clinic) scheme of free health facilities to other parts of the state, where 500 such outlets will be opened, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Thursday.

The expansion of the scheme, named after Shiv Sena founder late Bal Thackeray, will allow people to access healthcare facilities in every taluka and city of the state.

Shinde said 500 Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Davakhana, initially launched in Mumbai, will be started in different parts of the state.

Speaking at an event here, Shinde said after taking charge as chief minister in June last year, ‘Aapla Davakhana’ was one of the first initiatives undertaken by him for Mumbai.

The scheme already exists in his political turf Thane.

“The initiative started in Mumbai and received remarkable response because people get quick treatment as the clinic is located very near to their house. So such clinics will come up in all talukas,” said the CM.

Shinde said he has directed Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner I S Chahal to start 250 clinics in 227 civic wards in the metropolis.

The scheme provides essential medical services like health check-ups, medicines, investigations and diagnostics free, to people. PTI PR RSY RSY
