Mumbai, May 23 (PTI) The Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC) on Monday wrote to commissioners of 13 municipal corporations about holding ward reservation lottery ahead of polls in these civic bodies.
The 13 civic bodies are Navi Mumbai, Vasai-Virar, Kalyan-Dombivali, Kolhapur, Thane, Ulhasnagar, Nashik, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Solapur, Amravati, Akola and Nagpur.
The civic bodies have to issue a notification for reservation of wards for women from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and open categories on May 27, while lottery for such reservation will held on May 31.
“After the lottery, the civic bodies have to publish the proforma of ward-wise reservation on June 1, and people can submit suggestions and objections till June 6. After these are considered, the final ward-wise reservation list will be published in the gazette on June 13,” an official said. PTI PR BNM BNM
