New Delhi: Five months after Abhishek Lodha filed a Rs 5,000 crore lawsuit against younger brother Abhinandan Lodha over the purported use of their shared name—the real estate tycoons and sons of Malabar Hill MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha have resolved their dispute amicably.

Both parties have agreed that Macrotech Developers, the parent company currently helmed by Abhishek, has “the exclusive right” to the brand names Lodha and Lodha Group. Similarly, Abhinandan, proprietor of the House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL) can continue with what is now solely his brand name.

In statements shared by the Lodha brothers, both confirmed that they do not have rights or claims to the other’s business dealings.

The two brothers professionally separated in 2015 citing “differences in values,” and later Abhinandan branched out on his own—as stated in a 2017 family agreement, which formalises arrangements and states that Abhindandan’s company would have a separate IPR.

Abhinandan set up HoABL in 2021. The company deals in plots of lands, with one of their major projects being The Sarayu in Ayodhya. Despite another family agreement being signed in 2023, the feud came to a head earlier this year, when Abhishek filed a petition accusing his brother of “deliberately misleading stakeholders” by using the Lodha brand name.

“Everything we stand for comes together in those five letters,” Abhishek Lodha previously told ThePrint.

Adding, “Ultimately the brand is everything that a business stands for. The name of the brand has nothing to do with the name of the company [Macrotech]. We also have every right to call ourselves Lodha developers.”

Abhinandan, on the other hand, had told ThePrint that he was “saddened”.

“When such a notice comes you only feel sad. The right, the wrong, the truth, the not-truth falls to the side. The courts will decide. But as an individual, I was saddened,” he said, prior to the resolution.

The dispute has not been without its dramatic moments. A few weeks ago, Macrotech Developers also accused HoABL of forging identity document and signature of its independent director, Ashwani Kumar, to register four companies using the name ‘Lodha’. HoABL denied the allegation.

Manju Prabhat Lodha also wrote a letter to her sons, instructing them to resolve all disputes at the earliest. “Whatever I own I will definitely leave behind for both of you. I pray that both of you bring an end to your dispute and focus your energy on growing your respective businesses and taking care of your family,” she said in the letter.
