Siliguri (WB), Apr 11 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday drew large crowds along the streets of Siliguri as he travelled from Bagdogra airport to his venue of night stay after addressing a series of election rallies across West Bengal.
He is scheduled to address an election tally at Siliguri on Sunday afternoon.
Modi had addressed rallies in Purba Bardhaman, Jangipur and Balurghat earlier in the day before arriving at Bagdogra airport, near this north Bengal city, in the evening.
Though the Prime Minister’s itinerary, shared by the BJP media cell, did not mention any roadshow in Siliguri, his journey from the airport effectively turned into one, with huge crowds lining both sides of the route to greet him amid tight security arrangements.
People waved at the PM, raised slogans and showered flower petals as his cavalcade moved slowly through the city.
The PM too was seen waving to the crowds.
“There was no schedule for a roadshow, but people came out on their own to see and greet Modi-ji and it eventually turned into one,” a BJP leader said. PTI COR PNT NN NN
