Varanasi (UP), Mar 19 (PTI) The grand Ganga aarti, being organised by Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust at Lalita Ghat here, commenced with religious fervour on the first day of Chaitra Navratri on Thursday.
Several dignitaries, including Minister Ravindra Jaiswal, MLAs Neelkanth Tiwari and Avadhesh Singh, MLC Dharmendra Singh, Divisional Commissioner S Raj Lingam and District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar, attended the event.
This is the first time the temple trust has organised a Ganga aarti. The temple authorities said devotees of Lord Vishweshwar have been awaiting the divine moment for a long time.
Lalita Ghat, situated along the Ganga river, was decorated elaborately for the event.
During the aarti, the atmosphere turned devotional as believers clapped their hands rhythmically and chanted “Jai Maa Ganga”, filling the riverbank with spiritual energy.
Thousands of devotees attended the ceremony, displaying deep faith, devotion and a sense of spiritual bliss.
The temple administration said the initiative aimed to strengthen public faith, preserve Sanatan traditions and promote innovative sacred practices.
