Journalist killed as speeding bike hits him in Himachal’s Una; rider held

Una (HP), Mar 27 (PTI) A journalist died after a speeding motorcycle rammed into him while he was walking home, police here said on Friday.

According to police, the victim was identified as Vinod Kumar, from the Bangana area in Himachal Pradesh’s Una.

The incident occurred on Thursday night when he was walking home around 8 pm after closing his photo studio. A speeding motorcyclist crashed into him. Vinod suffered serious head injuries.

The collision was so severe that the victim died on the spot from a serious head injury, police said.

Upon receiving information, a police team rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation.

Station House Officer (SHO) Rohit Chaudhary said that a case has been registered and the accused motorcycle rider has been arrested.

Preliminary investigations indicate the accident resulted from excessive speed and negligence. The police have taken custody of the body and sent it to the Regional Hospital, Una, for a post-mortem examination.
