Medininagar, Apr 13 (PTI) A common service centre (CSC) operator was allegedly shot at by unidentified miscreants, who also looted Rs 3 lakh from her possession in Jharkhand’s Palamu district on Monday, police said.
CSC operators cater to various citizen-centric services in rural areas such as Aadhaar update, issuance of birth and caste certificates, banking and insurance services.
The woman was identified as Shama Parveen, who has been admitted to a community health centre at Barwadih in Latehar district.
The incident happened at Hutar in Ramgarh police station area when Parveen was on her way to the CSC, also known as Pragya Kendra, for a routine activity with her husband.
Some bike-borne miscreants stopped the couple and attempted to rob them, police said.
“When they resisted, the criminals fired three to four rounds at them. The CSC operator was struck by a bullet in her leg, while her husband had a narrow escape. The miscreants snatched a bag containing Rs 3 lakh from Parveen and fled,” Ramgarh police station in-charge Omprakash Shah said.
An investigation has been initiated and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused, he added. PTI CORR SAN RBT
