Jamtara, Apr 4 (PTI) The Jaynagar-Puri Express had to be halted for over 30 minutes on Saturday near the Jamtara Railway Station in Jharkhand, after passengers alerted the train staff about smoke billowing from the wheels of a sleeper coach, an official said. The train was travelling from Jaynagar in Bihar to Puri in Odisha.
“The train was examined by the technical staff, and it was detected to be a case of brake binding, which was rectified before the train was allowed to resume,” Jamtara Station Manager S K Paswan told PTI.
“No injury to any passenger was reported due to the incident,” Paswan added.
Brake binding takes place when the brake blocks remain gripped to the wheel tread, even after the locomotive pilot releases the brakes, a railway official said. PTI ANB RBT
