Ranchi, Mar 23 (PTI) Jharkhand MLA Kalpana Soren was felicitated with the ‘Women Empowerment Trailblazers Award’ in New Delhi on Monday for her contributions to women’s empowerment in the state.

She received the award during the BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry – Women Empowerment Annual Summit and Felicitation 2026, an official statement said.

“It was a deeply humbling moment to receive the Women Empowerment Trailblazers Award for my contribution towards women empowerment in my state Jharkhand. This recognition is not mine alone, it belongs to every ‘Maiyan’ of Jharkhand and countless women who continue to strengthen families, communities and economies with their resilience and determination,” the JMM leader posted on X.

Kalpana is the wife of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

In her address, she emphasised that women are not just participants in development, they are driving it.

“There is a need to ensure that women from marginalised communities are heard and have equitable access to opportunities, which Jharkhand’s Abua Sarkar is ensuring under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren ji. Empowerment must go beyond inclusion to ensure fairness, enabling every woman to grow and lead,” she said.

In Jharkhand, women are increasingly being seen not merely as beneficiaries of schemes but as entrepreneurs and agents of change, building livelihoods, strengthening local economies and shaping a more confident and inclusive future of society, she added.

“A truly empowered woman does not just adapt to change; she defines its direction. Together, let us build a future where every woman has the freedom, opportunity and confidence to realise her full potential,” the Gandey legislator added. PTI SAN RBT SAN MNB
