Ranchi, Mar 12 (PTI) The Jharkhand government on Thursday signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru, to develop and expand the horticulture sector in the state.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Directorate of Horticulture, Jharkhand, and the IIHR in the presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
“Farmers will benefit directly from it, and there will be an increase in their income. Productivity, quality and value-addition will be promoted in fruit, vegetable, ornamental, medicinal, and mushroom crops across the state,” Soren said.
This initiative will give a major boost to development, expansion and research in the horticulture sector of Jharkhand, he said.
