New Delhi, Mar 25 (PTI) The Janata Dal (United) has submitted a notice to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, seeking the disqualification of its member Giridhari Yadav from the Lower House due to alleged anti-party activities. The notice was submitted by JD (U) parliamentary party leader in the Lok Sabha, Dileshwar Kamait, on Tuesday. Yadav is an MP from Bihar’s Banka Lok Sabha seat. Confirming the move, JD (U) working president Sanjay Kumar Jha said the notice has been submitted against Yadav because his son Chanakya Prakash Ranjan had contested the Bihar assembly election as an RJD candidate from the Belhar seat, which falls under Banka Lok Sabha constituency. “After this, what is left for him, except voluntarily leaving the party? Against this backdrop, our leader in Lok Sabha Dileshwar Kamait has submitted the notice,” the JD (U) Rajya Sabha MP told reporters in the Parliament House complex on Wednesday. Jha also mentioned that Yadav had taken a divergent stance regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, while the party was in favour of the exercise. “Not a single complaint was filed against the assembly elections held in Bihar, nor was any re-polling held. No one claimed that they could not cast their vote because their name was removed from the electoral roll. The Election Commission did such good work, but he took a divergent stand,” the JD (U) leader added. JD (U) national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad said the Kamait has submitted the notice in the interest of the party following its decision in this regard. “Whatever Giridhari Yadav might be saying now, action is taken against anyone whose conduct is against the interest of the party or who has engaged in anti-party activity. Giridhari ji cannot be an exception. That’s why this decision has been taken in the interest of the party. There is no scope for any politics here,” he said. PTI PK PK MPL MPL
