New Delhi: The National Tele-Mental Health Programme in India has received 10 lakh calls on its helpline number since it was launched in October 2022. This significant milestone is being made by the government’s efforts to enhance mental health service delivery nationwide, a PIB press release stated.

The programme offers multi-language support and has helped facilitate communication between callers and mental health professionals. The helpline number 14416 or 1-800-891-4416 can be used to access mental health services by calling 14416 or 1-800-891-4416.
The platform also has a call-back option for follow-up, which is very important for those seeking ongoing care and support. The increasing number of callers to the helpline reflects the growing awareness and utilisation of mental health services in the country. In December 2022, the number of callers was around 12,000, which increased to more than 90,000 in May 2024. The government’s efforts to continuously invest in mental health initiatives and expand them are helping to ensure that everyone has access to the support they need.
The integration of initiatives like e Sanjeevani with the Tele-MANAS platform will further enhance its accessibility and effectiveness. The government’s dedication to expanding mental health services, especially for the most vulnerable populations, is a significant step forward in India’s efforts to address the mental health crisis and provide support to all individuals and households in the country.
