A contingent of 45 soldiers from the Indian Army will depart for Seychelles to take part in the 10th edition of the Joint Military Exercise ‘LAMITIYE-2024’ between the Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) from 18 March to 27 March 2024.
According to the Indian Army, the exercise is aimed at enhancing interoperability in sub-conventional operations in semi-urban environments with a focus on the neutralisation of likely threats in a semi-urban environment. This training will showcase the use of new-generation equipment and technology. The 10-day long exercise will comprise of field training exercises, combat discussions, lectures, and demonstrations.
It is expected that this exercise will contribute significantly towards the development of mutual understanding and cooperation between the troops of both the armies. The exercise is a biennial training event which has been conducted in Seychelles since 2001.
