The Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA), an initiative of Indian industry, academia, national research institutions, and standards organizations, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G IA) and 6G Flagship of Oulu University to drive the development of secure and trusted telecommunication technology including resilient supply chains, a PIB press release stated.

This partnership will help India achieve its vision of becoming a global leader in digital innovation and infrastructure by leveraging its telecom diplomacy to attract new business ventures, forge partnerships with global leaders, nurture domestic startups, and demonstrate the country’s commitment to sustainable and advanced telecommunications. The strategic partnership will enable the collaboration of research and development efforts in 6G and related technologies, the promotion of joint research initiatives, and the conduct of pilots of 6G technologies and use cases.
The partners will also collaborate on the development of 6G technology and contribute to standardization efforts at global forums. The Bharat 6G Mission, which aims to make India a leading supplier of advanced telecom technologies, is aligned with the government’s vision of empowering society through sustainable and advanced telecommunications.
The 6G Flagship programme, a world-leading research initiative funded by the University of Oulu and the Research Council of Finland, aims to develop key 6G technology components and establish a comprehensive 6G Test Centre. The initiative seeks to drive the societal digitisation of the 2030s through ground-breaking 6G research and innovation.
