New Delhi: The Ministry of Coal has stated that the country’s coal production has increased by 6.69% in July 2024 compared to the previous month. According to the data released by the Ministry of Coal, the total coal production in July 2024 was 74.07 million tonnes, which is higher than 69.42 million tonnes produced during the same month in 2023, a PIB press release stated.
The increase in coal production is mainly due to the efforts of Coal India Limited (CILT), which has seen a growth of **2.54%** in the month of July 2024 compared to 53.67 million tonnes produced during the same month in 2023. The Ministry of Coal further states that the **cumulative coal production (up to July 2024)** has increased by **9.78%** to **321.45 million tonnes**, compared to 292.80 million tonnes produced during the same period in 2023.
The growth in coal production has been accompanied by a rise in the country’s coal stock, which reached 86.8 million tonnes as of 31.07.2024. This reflects an impressive annual growth rate of 43.85% and underscores the coal sector’s resilience and commitment to meeting the nation’s energy demands. The Ministry of Coal remains committed to fostering growth and efficiency within the coal sector to ensure meeting the energy demands of a growing economy.
