New Delhi: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (DAHD) of Government of India has successfully launched the ‘A-HELP’ program for livestock farmers. The programme will provide an extension of services to farmers including disease control, animal tagging and livestock insurance, a PIB press release stated.
The A-HELP programme was launched by Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Minister, Puran Kr. Gurung at Chintan Bhawan, Gangtok on July 31. The Minister emphasised the importance of the A-HELP programme in improving livestock productivity and rural development. The programme will leverage the services of the SHG platform of NRLM for animal husbandry activities. So far the programme has been implemented in 12 states including Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir.
Under this programme, the A-HELP agents will be trained and accredited as A-HELP. A total of 500 participants including farmers and Pashu Sakhis participated in the event. The A-HELP programme is a significant step in the advancement of the livestock sector in India. It will provide a platform to connect farmers with the department and enable them to access the services.
