New Delhi, Mar 19 (PTI) India on Thursday highlighted Islamabad’s track record of “clandestine” nuclear proliferation after a US report flagged new risks regarding Islamabad’s nuclear payload and missile programmes.

New Delhi’s remarks followed the US intelligence report that named Pakistan as one of the few nations developing advanced missile systems capable of carrying both nuclear and conventional payloads.

“As far as Pakistan is concerned, they’ve had a history of clandestine nuclear proliferation,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at his weekly media briefing.

He was responding to a question on the issue.

“Such statements once again make it clear to the world, as to what kind of danger they pose and the dangers their clandestine nuclear operations pose,” Jaiswal said, referring to the concerns flagged in the report over Pakistan’s nuclear and missile programmes.

The report specifically mentioned Pakistan’s missile delivery system.

“The US’s secure nuclear deterrent capability continues to ensure our safety here at home,” it said.

“However, China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, and Pakistan have been researching and developing an array of novel, advanced, or traditional missile delivery systems with nuclear and conventional payloads, that can strike the Homeland, “it said. PTI MPB ZMN
