Bengaluru, Jul 14 (PTI) The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) announced on Monday two undergraduate programmes –BSc Honours in Economics (with a minor in Data Science and Business) and BSc Honours in Data Sciences (with a minor in Economics and Business) — under the umbrella of the School of Multidisciplinary Studies.

In a press conference held at the Bannerghatta Road campus on Monday, it was stated that the full-time, four-year residential programmes are designed within the framework of National Education Policy (NEP).

Addressing the media, Prof Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director of IIMB, said, “We believe it is important to engage young learners early to familiarize them with the intricacies of emerging and unfamiliar markets, and equip them with analytical, contextual, and ethical perspectives.” According to him, the curriculum will integrate economics, data science, philosophy, communication, and ethics, with business education, to establish a strong application-based orientation.

The programmes will include two internship cycles, an international exchange term and an option for a three-year exit with a degree.

Applications for the inaugural cohorts will open in September 2025, with the first batch scheduled to commence in August 2026, stated the IIMB officials.

Admissions will be conducted through a national test, followed by an interview. The programme fee is set at Rs 8.5 lakh per annum, with financial aid built into the design.

“Aid to the extent of 20 per cent in aggregate has already been factored in, and every deserving student will have the opportunity to access financial support,” IIMB Director added. PTI JR ROH
