Shimla, Mar 27 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Police safely rescued a tourist from Kerala on Friday after being stucked in snow near Beas Kund in the suburbs of Manali in Himachal’s Kullu district, officials said.

The Manali Police Station received information that Arshad, 20, a tourist from Kerala who had gone on a solo trek to Beas Kund, was stranded after losing his shoes.

Acting on the information, Sub-Inspector Raj Kumar, posted for security duty at the Atal Tunnel, Rohtang, was immediately dispatched towards Beas Kund along with a police team, they said.

Upon reaching the scene, police discovered the individual was stranded in the snow, approximately 2 to 3 Km uphill from the Dhundi Bridge and unable to walk, they said.

“I came for trekking, but lost my shoes while trekking. Thanks to the Himachal police for rescuing me, otherwise I do not think I would be safe,” Arshad said.

Demonstrating promptness and courage, Sub-Inspector Raj Kumar and his team carried out a rescue operation and physically carried the individual on their backs to a safe location, Manali DSP KD Sharma said. PTI BPL SHS SHS
