Shimla, Apr 7 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Government on Tuesday decided not to entertain proposals for service extensions, reappointments or re-engagement for any employee in the state.
The decision by the state government comes at a time when several austerity measures are being implemented during the current financial year to stabilise the state’s fiscal position.
“It has been decided by the government that henceforth no proposal seeking extension in service, re-employment and re-engagement of any officer or official shall be submitted by the Administrative Departments,” the order issued by the acting Chief Secretary said.
Such proposals, if any, shall not be entertained at any level and all departments are advised to ensure strict compliance with these directions, it said.
Officers and officials who are presently on extension, re-employment or re-engagement will be deemed to have retired upon completion of their tenure, it said.
The order came on a day the state government re-engaged an Assistant Engineer (Civil) of the Public Works Department posted at Kunihar in Siolan district for six months.
Significant announcements regarding the control of expenditure had been made in the state budget recently presented by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
A decision was taken to defer a portion of the salaries — ranging from 50 per cent to 3 per cent — of the chief minister, deputy chief minister, ministers and senior officials for the next six months.
The chief minister has indicated that the government may take even stricter measures to facilitate fiscal reform.
