New Delhi, April 8 (PTI) Delhi University’s (DU) Hindu college on Wednesday concluded its three-day international conference on sustainability, with discussions centred on higher education reforms, industry readiness and interdisciplinary research.
The third day of the international conference on Sustainability through Fundamental and Applied Sciences (STFAS-2026) featured panel discussions, expert lectures and a valedictory session attended by academicians, industry leaders and policy experts, according to organisers.
One of the key sessions focused on the four-year undergraduate programme under the University of Delhi, with speakers sharing early experiences, challenges and possible ways to strengthen its implementation.
The panel included DU dean of academic affairs K Ratnabali, Miranda House principal Bijayalakshmi, Ramjas College principal Ajay Arora, Hansraj College principal Prof Rama, as well as principals of Shri Ram College of Commerce and Hindu College.
The discussion, curated by Shalini Suryanarayan, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Hindu College, examined how the four-year programme is being rolled out and the academic support structures needed to improve student learning outcomes.
Speaking at the event, Hindu College principal Anju Srivastava said such dialogues were important for refining higher education frameworks in line with changing academic and societal needs.
She said the exchange of experiences among institutional leaders would help shape a more robust and student-centric undergraduate system, while also strengthening academia-industry linkages and promoting sustainable development through collaborative research.
Another panel discussion on “Bridging the Skill Gap: Universities on the Road of Preparing Industry-Ready Graduates” explored the role of higher education institutions in equipping students with industry-relevant skills.
The panel underlined the need for stronger skill development, innovation-led education and closer industry collaborations to prepare graduates for a rapidly changing global workforce.
The day also featured a lecture on plasma nanotechnology and its application in sustainable synthesis and processing of high-performance materials for energy storage and conversion.
The conference concluded with a valedictory address by DU Head of the Department of Chemistry Rajeev Gupta who highlighted the role of interdisciplinary research and sustainable innovation in addressing global challenges.
According to the organisers, 17 participants were honoured with awards and cash prizes for their presentations.
