Prayagraj (UP), Mar 23 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court on Monday asked the district magistrate and senior superintendent of police of Bareilly to remain present before it on March 25, after the government denied the allegation of a petitioner that he was stopped from offering namaz in his home.
A bench comprising Justices Saral Srivastava and Garima Prashad gave the direction on the petition filed by Tariq Khan, who has alleged that authorities did not permit him to perform namaz on February 16 inside his house.
On Monday, appearing on behalf of the state, Additional Advocate General Anup Trivedi submitted before the court that they never interrupted the offering of namaz and 50 people were performing namaz there regularly.
Earlier, on February 12, the bench had granted time to the counsel for the state to file its response.
It had also issued notice to the district magistrate and senior superintendent of police Bareilly for contempt action for “flouting” the court’s order dated January 27, 2026, passed in the case of Maranatha Full Gospel Ministries vs. State of U.P. and 2 others. PTI CORR RAJ RT
