Ghaziabad (UP), Mar 21 (PTI) Haryanvi dancer Monika Chaudhary on Saturday accused Loni Police of illegally detaining her brother at Ashok Vihar police outpost and denying legal assistance to him.

Chaudhary also cited lack of support from Hindu communities on the issue and said she intends to convert to Islam.

The dancer said she had been searching for her brother and came to know of his location only after receiving a phone call. She said her brother was released from police custody after the intervention of local BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gujjar.

Chaudhary also claimed that the police threatened her brother with “dire consequences” if he disclosed the details of his detention.

Expressing fear that police might implicate him in false cases, the dancer said she has lost all hope of receiving justice from senior Loni Police officials.

Meanwhile, in an undated video, Chaudhary was seen telling reporters that she did not receive support from the Hindu community and local Hindu organisations, and hence she is thinking of converting to Islam.

When contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari told PTI that an individual, suspected to be involved in a local brawl, was brought to the Ashok Vihar police outpost for interrogation.

An FIR was registered against unknown persons after the brawl, and some neighbours brought the individual to the police outpost in connection with the incident, he said.

However, that individual does not have any biological connection with Chaudhary, Tiwari said. PTI COR NAV RUK RUK RUK
